Home Pottery HQ helps US hobby potters choose, set up and use a pottery wheel, kiln, clay, glazes and tools at home. We compare equipment on the numbers that decide whether it suits you: centering capacity and wheelhead size for wheels; volts, amps, breaker size, plug type and maximum cone for kilns; cone range, shrinkage and absorption for clay; and firing range and application stage for glazes and underglazes.
Why this site exists
Buying a pottery wheel or kiln for home is a big decision. A wheel can cost as much as a used car's down payment, a kiln may need a new 240-volt circuit, and the information you need is scattered across maker spec sheets, dealer listings, forum threads and product titles that do not always agree. Many "best of" lists skip the details that matter most, such as whether a kiln plugs into a normal outlet or what breaker it needs.
We built Home Pottery HQ to put those details side by side, flag where sources disagree, and say plainly who each option suits and who should buy something else.
Who writes Home Pottery HQ
Home Pottery HQ is researched and written by Muhammad Mustafa. My role is research and writing: reading maker spec sheets, manuals, safety data and dealer listings, checking each figure against more than one source, and turning that into clear pages for home potters.
I am not a professional ceramic artist, kiln technician or electrician, and I do not claim to be. I do not claim to have tested products I have not used. Where a job involves electrical work, gas or the inside of a kiln, our pages say to use a licensed electrician or a qualified kiln technician, and we never publish wiring instructions.
If you are a potter, teacher or studio owner and you spot something we could explain better, I would be glad to hear from you through the contact page.
How we keep pages accurate
- Every spec comes from the maker's own page or manual where one exists. When a dealer or listing disagrees, we print both figures and name the sources.
- When a maker does not publish a figure, we say so instead of guessing.
- We do not print exact prices, because they change daily. We give typical price bands and link to the live listing.
- Each page ends with its sources and the month the specs were last checked.

How the site is funded
Home Pottery HQ is free to read. We earn from display advertising and from affiliate links: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, and we may earn from some other retailer links. This never changes which products we recommend. Full details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, a discontinued product or a spec that has changed, please tell us at support@homepotteryhq.com. We check every report against the maker's current information and update the page.
