No hands-on testing claims

Our buying guides and reviews are built from maker specifications, manuals, dealer data and published sources. We do not claim to have tested products unless a page says so.

Electrical and kiln work

We give the electrical requirements makers publish, such as volts, amps, breaker size and plug type, so you can plan. We do not give wiring instructions. Have a licensed electrician install or check any kiln circuit, and follow the maker's clearance and ventilation instructions.

Food safety

Whether a finished pot is safe for food depends on the glaze, the clay, how thickly the glaze is applied and whether it is fired to the right cone. We report what makers label. We cannot confirm that any particular pot is food safe.

Specifications and prices change

Makers update products and retailers change prices daily. Check current information before you buy.
